It’s the procedure that uses your own fat to increase your breast size. Fat transfer for breast augmentation, or fat grafting, is when excess fat is harvested from one area of the body, like the tummy, love handles, arms, thighs, or buttocks, using liposuction. Some patients have fat removed from multiple “trouble areas” for a slimmer appearance. Once harvested, the fat is purified and injected into the breast to add fullness.
Are you considering having a breast augmentation? Commonly referred to as a “boob job,” it’s one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the US. Breast augmentation surgery may be done using breast implants or a fat transfer. Patients often come to Ditesheim Cosmetic Surgery seeking a fat transfer to add natural-looking fullness to the chest or fix asymmetry between the right and left breasts.

A fat transfer breast augmentation procedure usually takes between three to five hours. On surgery day, you will be given anesthesia to ensure you are comfortable and pain-free. You may have general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. Dr. Ditesheim will harvest your unwanted fat from the predetermined donor areas. Once the fat is purified, he meticulously places each injection to sculpt the breast into the desired shape and size. Dr. Ditesheim uses small, strategically placed incisions to minimize noticeable scarring. The results are incredibly natural-looking and soft, as it’s your natural fat.
Immediately after surgery, you will wear a supportive bra or compression garment to reduce post-op swelling and support your newly augmented breasts. Compression garments are also recommended for the donor areas during the healing process.
Recovery is typically 1-2 weeks. Most patients feel fairly good 1-week post-op. You may return to work after week one if you have an inactive job, like an office job. Patients with physically active jobs should wait at least two weeks before returning to work.
Transferred fat needs time to settle and develop blood vessels. These new living fat cells will eventually integrate into your existing breast tissue. For the best results, avoid wearing a traditional bra, sleeping on your stomach, or placing direct pressure on your chest for at least two weeks.
Swelling and bruising are normal during recovery. Bruising is typically resolved in 2 weeks. The swelling gradually improves as you heal, but you shouldn’t feel much pain in the weeks following surgery. A full recovery from breast augmentation with fat transfer takes about six weeks. You’ll see the final results once the swelling subsidies. The surviving cells in the breast will stay permanently.
Do you want larger breasts but don’t love the idea of breast implants? Breast augmentation with fat transfer (natural breast augmentation) can still give you a fuller, natural-looking chest without implants.
However, a fat transfer is not an implant replacement, and there are limits to how much you can increase your cup size. On average, a fat transfer can add a half to one full cup size to your chest. Silicone and saline breast implants are measured in cubic centimeters (cc) and have a vast volume range. Implants are more flexible in terms of deciding the shape and size you want for your breasts. Fat transfer augmentation makes your breasts larger but will not alter your breast shape like an implant can.

In general, lipo doesn’t tighten your skin by much. When TriSculpt or any other lipo technique is used with Renuvion or J-plasma (a heat-based adjunctive technology), there can be “skin tightening.” But it’s not from TriSculpt.
The average cost of a Sono Bello micro-laser liposuction is $2500 – $4500 for a single area, and additional charges could apply, potentially resulting in a significantly higher actual cost. The final cost might be in the vicinity of $10,000 or even higher.
Dr. Ditesheim has tried and tested virtually every kind of liposuction procedure. His preferences include water, power, and Vaser liposuction. Dr. Ditesheim customizes every liposuction procedure to meet each patient’s unique needs and goals.
