54 · 5'7" · 172 lb · Abdomen, waist, back · Full tummy tuck · 8 lb of fat removed · Waist-to-hip 0.80 → 0.73 · 6 weeks after, early

From behind, Lipo 360 did its job. From the front, the skin had already let go, and removing the fat beneath it would have left it looser; that is a tummy tuck. Shown early, still swollen.

Investment: $29,000–34,000, including the tummy tuck

What it is

Why the torso is treated as one shape

Weight settles on a woman's torso in a band: lower tummy, flanks, bra line, lower back. Treat one part and the rest looks larger by comparison. Lipo 360 removes fat as a continuous plane around the body so the waist curves in from the front, the back tapers, and the transition into the hips looks like it was always there. Fat that comes off can go where curve is missing, and mildly loose skin can be tightened from underneath; both are in the cases above.

The back

Back and bra rolls

The rolls above and below the bra strap continue around the flank to the front, so treating them alone leaves a step. The back is shaped as part of Lipo 360, with you turned during surgery so front and back are treated in the same plane. Case 5 shows the same back with nothing else done; Case 4 with Renuvion for looser skin.

Candidacy

Who Lipo 360 is for, and who it isn't

Stable weight, fat you can pinch, skin that still shrinks. Age matters less than skin (Cases 1 and 4 are 51 and 56); pregnancy matters less than skin (Case 3 needed no tummy tuck, Case 4 a short one, Case 6 a full one). The consultation answers one question: what your skin will do once the fat is gone.

When Lipo 360 isn't the answer

The skin has already let go
A fold over the waistband, skin that stays tented when pinched. That is a tummy tuck with liposuction around it, as in Case 6. Tummy tuck →
One area, not the torso
If only the tummy bothers you, Lipo 360 is more than you need. Tummy and waist →
Weight, visceral fat, still losing

What to expect

Recovery

Days 1–7Garment on, walking from day one. Desk in about a week.
Weeks 2–4Swelling peaks then falls. Light exercise at three weeks.
Weeks 4–8Early shape visible. Full exercise at six weeks.
Months 3–6Final result as the skin contracts.

Risks and how I manage them are on the liposuction page. Lipo 360 is done asleep in our own QUAD A-accredited surgical center, three to four and a half hours, within the five-liter limit for one procedure; thighs or arms added to a large torso are staged a few months later.

Why me

Dr. Ditesheim on Lipo 360

Dr. Jeffrey A. Ditesheim, board-certified plastic surgeon, in the operating room at Ditesheim Cosmetic Surgery, Charlotte NC
From Dr. Ditesheim

Lipo 360 isn't about how much fat I can take out. It's about where your waist sits and how your back and hips flow into it. I treat the abdomen, flanks and back as one shape. When I look at your body, I'm looking for natural shape and proportion. I look at skin quality, or elasticity, and I look at your waist-to-hip ratio. Then I'll propose a plan to give you a shape that feels more in balance and more beautiful. If Lipo 360 alone will get you there, I'll show you a case like yours. If it won't, I'll tell you before you commit to anything.

★★★★★
"I had a great experience with Ditesheim Cosmetic Surgery. Everyone was wonderful from initial consultation to 10 months post op. Dr. Ditesheim really takes the time to listen to what you want and provides you with expected outcomes and options. Day of surgery, knowing my expectations, he made some last-minute changes to improve my chances of getting the desired outcome. Dr. Ditesheim recommended Lipo 360 with Renuvion for skin tightening along with BBL to have better shape. It was apparent within a few days that I was going to be happy with my choice. Dr. D and the staff followed up on me daily after discharge for almost a week and their concern continues."

Questions

What women ask about Lipo 360

What areas does Lipo 360 include?

Abdomen, waist and flanks, lower back, as one shape; the bra line and upper buttocks where needed. Inner thighs and arms are separate areas, added or staged.

Lipo 360 or tummy tuck?

Lipo 360 removes fat and relies on your skin to shrink. A tummy tuck removes skin and tightens the abdominal wall, with a low scar. Cases 3, 4 and 6 show where the line falls.

How much fat is removed?

Nine to eleven pounds, within the five-liter limit for one procedure. The scale changes less than the shape.

Will the fat come back?

The cells removed are gone. Remaining fat enlarges with weight gain, so the result holds at a stable weight; Case 1 lost 24 pounds afterward and Case 3 gained three, and both held.

Can I have Lipo 360 after children?

Yes, if the skin still contracts. Cases 3 and 5 are mothers. Loose skin means a mini or full tummy tuck combined with the liposuction.

What is fat transfer, and do I need it?

Fat removed from the torso, purified and placed where curve is missing, in the same operation. Cases 2, 3 and 4 had it; Cases 1 and 5 didn't need it.

What is Renuvion?

A probe under the skin that tightens mildly loose skin over the following months, with no incision beyond the liposuction ports. Case 4 had it. It doesn't replace a tummy tuck when the skin has truly let go.

When will I see the result?

Early shape at three to four weeks; final result at three to six months. Every photo here is at five months or later, except Case 6 at six weeks.

Find out which version is yours

Bring photos of the shape you want. I'll examine your skin and fat, tell you whether Lipo 360 alone will do it or what needs adding, and give you a written quote. If the honest answer is a tummy tuck, I'll say so.
