A beautifully shaped, proportional nose rarely gets noticed, but it can make all the difference in bringing out your natural beauty. How? By helping to achieve facial harmony.
When your facial features are in balance and complement one another, that is facial harmony. Nasal surgery, or rhinoplasty, is one of the most common procedures performed to achieve facial harmony, and when approached with a personalized vision and current techniques, rhinoplasty in Charlotte offers highly satisfying results.
Rhinoplasty can reshape the bridge & nasal tip or even help correct breathing problems.
Most patients return to work or school about 1 week after surgery.
Rhinoplasty was the 2nd most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the U.S. for 2013.
Each rhinoplasty procedure is different. The needs of a person with breathing difficulties may be vastly different than that of a person who is interested in reshaping their nose.
Dr. Jeffrey Ditesheim will listen to what you want, designing a treatment plan to achieve your desired results and enhance your naturally attractive features.
Our suite is certified with the highest level of accreditation by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF).

These are just a few of the common goals we help our Charlotte patients achieve with a rhinoplasty; if you are unhappy with your nose for another reason, we can help you learn about your options to make the changes you want.
A rhinoplasty or a ‘nose job‘ is a cosmetic procedure designed to improve the function and appearance of a person’s nose. Dr. Ditesheim’s modern approach to nasal surgery incorporates advanced techniques based upon two principles:
Grafting techniques can be more effective and appear more natural than removing tissue alone. It is sometimes more predictable, for example, to improve the profile by building up a low nasal bridge rather than trying to reduce the forward projection of the nasal tip.
Conversely, in patients where the forward projection of the tip is inadequate, adding cartilage will yield a more natural profile than trying to reduce the bridge. Most rhinoplasty procedures today entail a combination of tissue removal and tissue addition in order to produce the best result.
A small incision is placed in the skin under the nose between the nostrils, allowing the plastic surgeon to “open” the nose and view its entire internal structure. This allows for great precision in making internal changes, which affect external appearance. Patients who have had previous nasal surgery with a poor result usually require both cartilage grafts and an “open” rhinoplasty in order to correct the deformities.
Dr. Ditesheim and his experienced staff will provide you with pre-surgical information that includes guidelines about drinking, smoking and avoiding certain vitamins and medications.
Dr. Ditesheim’s caring staff has a wealth of experience in preparing families for the rhinoplasty recovery process and ensuring a predictable, smooth process.
Nasal procedures in Charlotte are tailored to the individual facial structures and your personal goals. This creates differences in rhinoplasty surgery times to range from 2 to 5 hours. The cosmetic surgery procedure is usually done on an outpatient basis, with the patient under general anesthesia administered by a board-certified physician anesthesiologist to ensure the highest level of safety.
Your procedure will be performed in our on-site AAAASF (American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities) accredited surgical suite for your comfort and privacy.
Once your rhinoplasty surgery is complete, your nose will be bandaged and splinted in order to minimize swelling and bruising. The dressing may include nasal packing, which should be removed within a couple of days. All sutures and/or staples, splints, and bandages are usually removed within five to ten days.
During the first twenty-four hours following your surgery, your face will be puffy and may feel sore. You may notice increased swelling and bruising over the next few days following your procedure; this is normal.
Applying cold compresses will help reduce swelling and help keep you comfortable.
Most of the swelling and bruising should subside within 2 to 3 weeks. There may be slight swelling for months to follow, but it will only be noticeable by you and Dr. Ditesheim. Our office will schedule frequent follow-up visits in the months following your procedure to check on your healing progress. They’re great at providing emotional support to help you throughout your cosmetic surgery experience. It will be in these visits that Dr. Ditesheim’s skill and care for his patients will be most noticeable and what makes him one of the best choices to perform your rhinoplasty that Charlotte has to offer.
Whether you are unhappy with the proportion, angle, tip, or other specific features of your nose, or you have experienced changes due to injuries, nasal surgery can address what you wish to improve and give you a naturally beautiful and proportionate face.
Nose surgery is a highly individualized procedure; the exact cost can only be determined in consultation with Dr. Ditesheim. Typical costs include surgeon’s fees, anesthesiologist fees, and operating room costs. The total price will vary depending on the complexity of the procedure.
Yes, the surgical changes to the structure of your nose are permanent, but will take a long time to settle into the final result after rhinoplasty. If you are unhappy with the results of a rhinoplasty, Dr. Ditesheim can perform revision rhinoplasty to get the look you want.
