Stomach and Abdomen Liposuction
The stomach is a “problem area” for many men and women. Jiggly, pinchable fat accumulating in the midsection is called subcutaneous fat and is often resistant to diet and exercise. If you’re struggling with stomach fat despite living a healthy lifestyle, liposuction can help achieve a smooth, toned tummy.
Stomach and Abdomen Liposuction is one of the most popular procedures performed by North Carolina plastic surgeon Dr. Ditesheim. Call us at (704) 542-8686 to schedule a consultation at our Charlotte office.
Some people store excess fat cells in the tummy despite rigorous exercise routines. Abdomen liposuction removes stubborn, localized fat for good. After stomach liposuction, your body will have fewer fat cells, leaving you with a flatter and more sculpted abdomen.
The benefits of stomach liposuction include:
● Enhanced muscle definition, waistline, and silhouette
● Self-confidence and body image boost
● Lipo is a safe, minimally invasive surgery with a quick recovery
● Stomach lipo removes the fat that diet & exercise can’t
● Permanently remove fat cells with natural-looking results
● Helps restore pre-pregnancy tummy and address C-section bulge
What’s The Recovery for Stomach Liposuction?
Abdomen liposuction is considered a minimally invasive procedure. This is an outpatient procedure; most patients can return to work within a few days. Bruising, swelling, and minor discomfort are expected during the initial stages of your recovery. Most patients manage pain with prescription or over-the-counter painkillers. The final results may take several months to appear once the swelling completely subsides.
If you combine liposuction with another procedure, like a tummy tuck, expect a more extended recovery period.
What Happens During Stomach Liposuction?
Dr. Ditesheim is Charlotte’s expert in stomach liposuction. He performs stomach lipo alongside our professional medical staff in our state-of-the-art surgery center.
Usually, abdominal lipo is performed under local anesthesia, meaning you’ll be awake but pain-free. If you’re having a complementary surgery, like a breast procedure, you may have general anesthesia.
Dr. Ditesheim begins by making tiny incisions in the target area. He meticulously places the incisions in inconspicuous locations to minimize visible scarring. Next, a tumescent solution is injected into the treatment area. This saline, anesthetic, and epinephrine mixture helps numb the area, reduce bleeding, and stimulate fat removal. Once the tumescent solution is in, Dr. Ditesheim uses a thin tube called a cannula to gently break up and suction out unwanted fat. He carefully maneuvers the cannula to contour your stomach.
The final steps of surgery involve closing the incisions. You’ll also have to wear a compression garment to help reduce swelling and support healing. Every patient will receive detailed aftercare instructions. We encourage you to follow the aftercare instructions carefully for the best results.
Can I Reuse the Fat?
During any liposuction procedure, the fat is harvested. In some cases, patients want to reuse or repurpose the fat and transfer it into other areas of the body.
Fat transfers typically include natural breast augmentation and the popular Brazilian Butt Lift procedure. During a fat transfer, your extracted fat will be harvested and sterilized before reinjection into areas where you want more volume. If you’re considering having a complimentary procedure like a BBL, talk to Dr. Ditesheim about it during your initial consultation.
